JOB DESCRIPTION HEARD COUNTY SCHOOLS: Board Office Front Desk Clerk (FLSA Non-Exempt)

The Board Office Front Desk Clerk performs general clerical and secretarial functions – typing, copying, and filing as well as answers incoming calls and greets visitors to the office.
REPORTS TO: Superintendent or his/her designee
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
- Additional training/experience in computer applications desired
- Physically able to perform assigned duties
- Acceptable criminal background check
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Knowledge of: Modern office practices and procedures, including filing systems, receptionist, and telephone techniques; legal provisions, policies, regulations, and guidelines governing the special education student record management process; correct English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and mathematical concepts; standard office machines and equipment, including computers and a variety of related application software; collection and organization of data and information.
Ability to: Perform responsible and technical clerical work with accuracy and speed; work independently and with minimal supervision in a multi-task environment of frequent interruptions and changes in task priority; accurately interpret and apply legal mandates, policies, regulations, and guidelines with regard to student records; accurately perform simple mathematical calculations; meet stringent deadlines; communicate effectively in oral and written form; effectively operate a computer and use appropriate application software; understand and follow oral and written directions; deal effectively and courteously with students, parents, school employees and the general public.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, bend, squat, reach, and lift, carry, push or pull light weights.

- Call parents/students due to absences
- Assists with staff mail
- Student transportation
- Performs other duties as requested by principal
- Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in school environment and community.
- Maintains a cooperative working relationship with principal, students, parents, staff and public.
Training and Experience
- Maintains expertise in assigned area.
- Participates successfully in professional learning opportunities available to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment.
- Participates successfully in computer training to attain and/or maintain skills necessary to achieve proficiency on performance responsibilities.
